1. NAME and DOMAIN
1.1 The name of the Association is THE SOUTH AFRICAN DISC JOCKEY ASSOCIATION, hereinafter referred to as “SADJA”.
1.2 SADJA is a non-profit organisation, funded by annual membership fees; and sponsorship as and when required.
1.3 SADJA shall be organised and conducted in a professional and transparent manner by a team of elected office bearers, answering and reporting to its members on a regular basis.
1.4 SADJA, as a whole, shall not be responsible for any unauthorised actions by its individual members.
1.5 Permission for the accurate use of the SADJA Logo is granted to bonafide paid-up members for official SADJA marketing purposes only.
1.6 The Head Office of SADJA shall be located in Johannesburg or at such place as the committee may determine from time to time.
1.7 This Constitution may only be altered by majority vote of all the members of SADJA.
2. MISSION STATEMENT
SADJA has been formed:-
2.1 To utilise the expertise of its members to uplift the business of disc jockeys and entertainment presentation in South Africa.
2.2 To ensure that all members conduct their business in a professional and ethical manner and provide quality entertainment at all times.
2.2 To provide information, education and training to its members.
2.3 To stimulate the market place by creating positive public awareness through an ongoing marketing campaign.
2.4 To assist its members in obtaining the latest technology, equipment and software at the lowest cost possible.
2.5 To support and protect its members from improper and false accusations or actions.
2.6 To provide a platform for recourse of objections and complaints from the public.
3. MEMBERSHIP and MEMBERSHIP CRITERIA
A Member shall:-
3.1 Be an individual running his/her own business or a business organisation with one or more employees, actively involved in the disc jockey and/or entertainment presentation business in South Africa.
3.2 Be a paid up member of SAMRO (Southern African Music Rights Organisation, Limited) at all times.
3.3 Conduct all his/her business on a Contractual Basis.
3.4 Continuously strive for perfection and satisfy every client by providing quality entertainment and deliver what he/she has promised.
3.5 Conduct himself/herself in a professional manner with impeccable behavior.
3.6 Have an unquestionable dress code (Uniform, Smart Casual or as per client request).
3.7 Use Professional Equipment in good condition and of good appearance and have contingency plans when breakdowns occur.
3.8 Be Punctual at all times for all functions.
3.9 Not use Illegal Substances when performing.
3.10 Possess a Public Liability policy.
3.11 Conform to the Venue’s rules and regulations in agreement with client.
3.12 Conform to the client’s reasonable requests.
3.13 Ensure that his/her membership fees are paid to SADJA timeously.
3.14 Membership fees are to be paid within thirty (30) days of receipt of the SADJA invoice.
3.15 Every member or his / her authorised representative shall attend at least three (3) of the monthly SADJA meetings within one (1) calendar year.
3.16 Failure to comply with any of the Membership Criteria so listed above, will result in the forfeiture of SADJA membership, any fees that have been paid and the use and display of the SADJA Logo and / *or the statement: Member of The South African Disc Jockey Association or Member of SADJA or any other statement/s indicating any affiliation to SADJA.
3.17 Re-application for membership will be considered by the SADJA Office Bearers and, if granted, the applicant will be treated as a new prospective member.
4. COMMITTEE OF OFFICE BEARERS
4.1 The Committee of Office Bearers will be nominated and elected by members on an annual basis.
4.2 The Committee shall consist of: a Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary.
4.3 There will be two signatories on SADJA’s cheques; always the Treasurer and either the Chairman or Vice-Chairman.
4.4 Internet Payments shall only be made by the treasurer on written authorisation of the chairman and vice-chairman.
4.5 Sub-Committees will be formed to perform various functions and projects.
4.6 Members shall perform such tasks once they have committed to do so.
5. MEETINGS
5.1 Meetings will be held at least once per Month at a designated time, date and Venue.
5.2 Extraordinary meetings will be called from time to time when specific projects or actions deem it necessary to do so.
